The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and will close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house which has a combined gross household earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined home earnings does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and wish not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the right Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
